Regain the church’s credibility and integrity to accomplish all Jesus commanded.
Win the lost to the gospel by unifying the body of Christ.
Laurie Webb’s Holy Spirit Made Me Do It: A Christian’s Guide to Spiritual Etiquette is a how-to manual for living the Great Commission each day. Drawn from years of ministry and Bible study teaching, Webb lays out a well-engineered framework for more effectively ministering to the unsaved by fostering greater unity within the body of Christ.
Webb defines spiritual etiquette as the manner in which believers conduct themselves in a gathering, specifically in the areas of:
- Spiritual Maturity
- Spiritual Excellence
- Spiritual Unity
- Spiritual Submission to Authority.
After working through the steps of growth in each area, the believing reader will operate with right motive and intent, empowered to evangelize the world with faithful, obedient effectiveness. Webb rounds out her message with a richly textured discussion on who the Holy Spirit is, the giftings of the Spirit, and the qualities necessary to operate in the commands of the Bible.
Holy Spirit Made Me Do It will resonate with and edify every believer possessing the desire to see the body of Christ strong and victorious in winning the lost.

Book Review – Holy Spirit Made me Do It – A Christian’s Guide to Spiritual Etiquette
Laurie Webb has, in Holy Spirit Made Me Do It: A Christian’s Guide to Spiritual Etiquette, laid out an orderly and comprehensive study of what Holy Spirit is and is not. She equips the Body of Christ with scriptural evidence and solid teaching relating to how this subject has been misunderstood and misappropriated in worship services. She has a refreshing way of using biblical passages and word study to educate the reader about Holy Spirit’s ministry and mandate from Christ. Her references to the original Greek language word meanings and context in scripture further the reader’s overall study experience. I especially liked the section dealing with etiquette within the church body. Opinions differ among the various Christian denominations with regards to Holy Spirit’s ministry today. However, one thing is certain – Holy Spirit has not changed, as Jesus Himself is unchanging. (Hebrews 13:8)
Laurie has two sections of study questions that pertain to the book’s subject matter. This would make an excellent self or group study on Holy Spirit. She covers spiritual maturity, unity, submission to authority, and excellence with regards to Christians that gather together to worship. Her book edifies believers and teaches with clarity how you as an individual can effectively live out the Great Commission while being led by the Spirit. Using the Apostle Paul’s teaching and scripture references from both the Old & New Testaments, Laurie lays out a solid lesson on this controversial subject. She has done a masterful job of presenting biblical truth, and I recommend reading her book if you want an introduction to or a refresher course on knowing, relying upon, and submitting to Holy Spirit in your life.

Laurie L. Webb’s “Holy Spirit Made Me Do It: A Christian’s Guide To Spiritual Etiquette – What Is It and How Do I Achieve It?” is an eye-opening read about a subject that is taught way too infrequently. What began, by the author’s admission, to be a handbook for teaching this subject at Spirit Life School of Ministry, has evolved into a compact and concise non-fiction work that should be given to every Christian to read.
I laughed and cried and learned the valuable Biblical principles of spiritual etiquette – a subject that I never contemplated before. In fact, that is precisely what made me request this book for review and I am infinitely grateful that I did so. Being a child in the Catholic church, a teen and adult in the more charismatic Assemblies of God, a visitor to the Methodist and Lutheran denominations, and now calling a Baptist church “home”, I believe that I have a very well-rounded and diverse Christian background. But I never really thought about how we encounter the Holy Spirit during communal worship until recently. So, this book has found me at the perfect time. Knowing that the Holy Spirit won’t compete with Himself is one crucial lesson I will take away from this reading experience. Another is that it’s not about emotions, and I am hoping that lesson will help me to discern what is really stifling the Spirit within me.
This is a thoughtful read about a subject that every Christian should be aware of in order to fulfill Christ’s prayer that we, the Christian church, be unified.

My response:
Thanks for the review! I hope all of your readers become interested in learning Who Holy Spirit is and His purposes on this Earth. So many have pushed Him to the far corners of their Christian life and therefore, lack the power that God purposes us to possess!
Again, thanks and God Bless!
Laurie
I read this book a couple of weeks ago and I was truly blessed and encouraged, after reading a book with some sound teaching on the subject of He, the holy spirit. I love the real life examples Laurie uses throughout the book. Most of us who have been around, in, or simply passing through the congregation of church folks, for more than just a little while, have experienced or witnessed at least one of these scenarios. I simply want to go on record as saying, I believe this is a teaching that the church has definite need of in the day that we are living. I am so glad that Laurie was graced to write such an informative, empowering and easy to read book, and that I was able to partake of it ‘s goodness.

Laurie,
I have read your book and I must say I enjoyed it greatly. I learned so much. This book opened my eyes concerning the Holy Spirit and the relationship we should have. My heart longs to be led by Holy Spirit so that lives will be forever changed. It’s only through us giving ourselves to our Heavenly Father and being led by our “Helper” that God will be able to use us in ways we can’t even imagine. Thank you for reminding me that I can’t do it alone and that I must position myself to hear that still small voice.
Love you!

Holy Spirit Made Me Do It by Laurie Webb
In my group on LinkedIn called Christian Authors, Editors, Publishers, and Bloggers, I met a lovely lady named Laurie Webb. She has always been upbeat and has stimulated some pretty good discussions. The purpose of our group is to help motivate excellent Christian writing and to encourage each other in our writing.
Laurie gave me this book to review and it is a hum-dinger. Who ever thought we as Christians would need to be taught Spiriual Etiquette? In these latter days’ daze we need it more than ever.
Recognizing the work of the Holy Spirit, understanding who He really is, and then utilizing the gifts manifested by the Holy Spirit are essential to the Christian lifestyle. Without those critical factors, we do not have what it takes to survive this sojourn.
I have been preaching for years that unity of the body is essential for our Spiritual health. Regardless of our views on doctrine issues, we must be unified in minds with one Spirit, not uniformity of souls and thoughts. Laurie tells us in her book that this is a picture of harmony within the body. Yes! That is so true. She also notes that the Holy Spirit told her that a picture of harmony is a well-oiled machine, a smooth transference, working together as one such as a fluid relay team. It takes the whole team to get the job done. What excellent word pictures.
This is not a book you can skim through in an afternoon. There are lots of hard kernels and lots of profound thoughts. There are some excellent points to discuss, too. This book is small but it packs a punch that the Body of Christ should take on the chin as a timely wake up call to perfection. We should all want as much of the Holy Spirit as we can hold, and to never quench His holy work within and around us.
This would be an excellent study book for discipleship training, or for a Sunday School class. Frankly, I do not agree with everything I read, but that does not mean that we should throw out the baby with the bath water. We should glean all the good stuff and study the things that we don’t agree with to see how those things can be understood with godly understanding, and reconciled with what we understand of scripture.
There are great truths in this little bombshell. It is well worth the money and I do recommend it.
**** four stars for worth of study.

I just finished your book. I couldn’t put it down until I read every word. I have to tell you that you have brought home to the Christian world a powerful reminder of the way things were and in many places still are and how they must be. Your emphasis on who the person of the Holy Spirit is, should be an eye opener to all of the old Pentecostals who holler, run and act out in the flesh. To those seeking their home of understanding, truth and healing, your book brings into focus the needs not being met by the Christian church. Your book is worth reading over and over again, as a constant reminder of the proper etiquette all spirit filled believers should conduct themselves, setting the example before the lost and new Christians and more importantly, being able to address the hurts, battles, and needs of our brothers and sisters in each church setting. It is the continual ministry to the body that helps the body stay strong and ready to do battle against the enemy.
I pray that your book sells over and over again and never stops selling. Every believer in Christ needs a copy of this book. I need a copy for Matt & Kellie and a copy for Travis and Jennifer. Please bring two for me Wednesday night.
Thank you for taking the time, listening to Holy Spirit and allowing Him to guide you through each page that you have so wonderfully written.
