I was thinking about Valentine’s Day yesterday and what a commercial holiday it is. Millions of dollars spent, just to tell someone you love them. Shouldn’t you be doing that everyday?
How many red teddy bears does one person need? How many heart shaped boxes of “fattening” chocolate can one person eat? All that to say “I love You”. Saying “I love you” to your spouse or significant other should be a lifestyle. Telling your children, your parents, brothers, and sisters should be a continual occurence. Why wait until Hersheys Company tells you to do so.
I admit. I did buy my husband a $2 card. But he already knows how much I love him because I tell him everyday. He didn’t need to buy me a card either, which he did, because I know he loves me.
In fact, read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 to find out what love really is. “Love suffers long and is kind, love does not eny, love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek it’s own, is not provoked, seeks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things; Love never fails”!
This is what we should be living everyday. I’ll take this over chocolate anyday! So, would you rather have someone who is kind, patient, polite, selfless etc or someone who buys you a card and a stuffed teddy bear once a year? I bet I know the answer.
We should all strive to put love in action everyday, not just Feb 14th! God is Love and without the love of God living within you, you can’t truly love. So if you don’t have that love of God living within you, you can! All you have to do is ask and He will enter into your heart and make you a new creature; one that has the capacity to love everyday!
So, what are going to do on February 15, 16, 17…
Leave some comments to let me know how you and your family practice love on a daily basis!
Happy Feb 15th everyone! Now go out and love someone!!
