We celebrate our freedom as a country on this day – July 4th!  Many men and women have given of their time, their family, and their lives so that we can celebrate freedom on this day.  They suffered so much so that we can have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom to bear arms…are we going to continue to fight for our freedoms?

Today, we take the time to celebrate but do we really stop to think about what freedoms we enjoy that others do not?  People like my Grandfather sacrificed so much for this country.  Men and women sacrifice their lives on a daily basis for you and for me!  Do you thank them when you see them?

Freedom means so many things.  If you are a Christian then you enjoy freedoms that non-Christians do not.

John 8:36 says “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you are free indeed.”  Romans 6:18 says we have been set free from sin.  Romans 8:2, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”

Jesus came so that we can enjoy freedom from the bondage of sin.   We are free to worship, free to pray, free to follow Christ, free from worry, free from defeat, …FREE!

2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (freedom, independence, absence of external restraint).

Do you want to be free?  If so, ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior and to forgive you of all of your sins!  It is as simple as that.  Then determine to live for Christ (which is a pretty good deal considering He will lead and guide you into making right choices and decisions that will make you free!)  God doesn’t force us to do anything, He gives freedom!  We have the freedom to love Him or not to love Him, to have relationship or not to have relationship.  God desires our love on a free-will basis.

As we celebrate freedom, think about the freedoms that God paid for with the life of His Son Jesus!  He gave the ultimate sacrifice – and not just for this country but for every person who has ever walked the face of this Earth and those still to come!  He paid the ultimate price for freedom!

Galatians 5:1, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty (freedom) by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”

We can stand fast in these freedoms.  We don’t have to settle for less.  I have attached a link to a song by Mandisa called “Freedom Song”.  Listen and enjoy!
